I’ve worked at 6 startups and led the People function at the last 5 of them. My husband and I met at a startup. I’m thrilled about the one I’m supporting now, Auxilius.
What is startup DNA? I think it manifests in a couple of different ways.
First, your work is different. When you are part of a team of ones or tens rather than hundreds or thousands, your fingerprint is clear and distinctive across your work and your output: what you do matters. That pride of ownership is gripping and exciting.
Second, your team is different. They are motivated and driven to nurture a new idea and make it succeed. They are willing to test their assumptions, get outside their comfort zone, try, fail, do, win. You share a passion for change and transformation that makes you closer as a unit and stronger as individuals.
Finally, there’s just a feeling that emanates from a different kind of work and a different kind of team. If you’ve experienced it, you know what I mean. If you haven’t, it’s worth a try, though you may get hooked…
If you are reading this, there’s a good chance you love startups, too. If that's true, I can't encourage you enough to consider joining our team (hint, hint: www.auxili.us/careers). We look forward to hearing from you and working with you.
